CCO's Bio Diesel is blended with B100 soy bean product. We will deliver to your bulk storage or fleet any percentage of Bio Diesel that you prefer from B2 (2% soy) up to B100 (100% soy). We also offer B20 (20% soy) through our Topeka Cardlock located at 4141 Lower Silver Lake Road. If you are interested in obtaining a fleet fueling card, click on the 24 hour Cardlock tab for more information.

Advantageous to the Environment
Biodiesel is a cleaner-burning fuel for diesel engines that is produced from renewable resources such as soybean oil. It can be used as a pure product or blended at any percentage with petroleum diesel. Biodiesel is simple to use, renewable, domestically produced and readily available.

Biodiesel Helps Keep Our Air Clean

  • Particulate Matter - Breathing particulates has been shown to be a human health hazard. Biodiesel significantly cuts particulate matter emissions.
  • Carbon Monoxide - Everyone knows the dangers of this pollutant. Biodiesel greatly reduces the amount of carbon monoxide diesel engines produce.
  • Ozone Forming Potential - Research documents that the ozone forming potential of the hydrocarbon emissions of biodiesel
is nearly 50% less than that of petroleum fuel.
  • Sulfur Dioxide - This pollutant causes acid rain. Biodiesel contains essentially no sulfur, therefore reducing sulfur dioxide exhaust from diesel engines.

Biodiesel Helps Preserve and Protect Natural Resources

  • Energy Balance - Biodiesel has the highest energy balance of any fuel. For every one unit of fossil energy needed to produce biodiesel, 3.24 units of energy are gained.
  • Biodegradable and Non-Toxic - Tests sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture confirm biodiesel is less toxic than table salt and biodegrades as fast as sugar.

Biodiesel is Safer for People to Breathe

  • Biodiesel is the only alternative fuel to have
successfully completed the Health Effects Testing Requirements of the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990.
  • Biodiesel reduces air toxics by up to 90%.
  • According to testing sponsored by the
Department of Energy, biodiesel can reduce cancer risks from particulates by up to 94% compared to petroleum diesel.

User Benefits
Biodiesel functions in the engine similar to petroleum diesel, yet offers many operating benefits.

  • Biodiesel provides significantly higher lubricity compared to conventional diesel fuel, even at very low blend levels. High lubricity can decrease maintenance costs and reduce engine wear. Adding 1% biodiesel can improve lubricity by as much as 65%.
  • B 100 (pure biodiesel) has the highest BTU
    content of any alternative fuel.
  • B20 (20 percent vol. biodiesel mixed with 80 percent vol. petroleum diesel) demonstrated similar fuel consumption, horsepower, and torque as petroleum diesel fuel, while reducing certain emissions by more than 20%.
  • A flash point of.more than 3000 F makes biodiesel safer to store and handle than diesel, gasoline, or other gaseous fuels.
  • Biodiesel does not require expensive modifications to engines or refueling facilities and mechanics do not have to be retrained to work on your vehicle or vessel.

Biodiesel allows users to take immediate and seamless measures to help clean up the air while reducing our dependence on foreign oil and helping to improve our domestic economy.

Commonly Asked Questions About  Biodiesel

Is biodiesel a legal fuel?
Biodiesel is legal for commerce in the United States. Biodiesel has been registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a fuel and as a fuel additive.

Can I use biodiesel in my existing diesel engine?
Biodiesel can be used in pure form, or blended with petroleum diesel in any combination with little or no modification to the engine or the fuel system and with similar engine performance. Ensure that only fuel meeting the biodiesel specification is used.

Does biodiesel cost more than other alternative fuels?
Although biodiesel still costs more than petroleum diesel, the price gap continues to narrow. However, independent studies by the Congressional Budget Office, USDA and others have confirmed that biodiesel blends are cost competitive with other alternative fuels and in many cases represent the least cost option for users. Biodiesel use does NOT require expensive conversions of engines nor modifications to refueling facilities.
